I love it when science gets sexy

So I did my geekly duty and watched the Mythbusters involving diet coke and Mentos. Along with a few other cool things (Methane Bubbles? Damn that looked cool.)

Anyway, I almost zoned out a bit when in the very beginning of the episode they mentioned Kari’s layout in FHM. By now, I think you all know I’m a sucker for geek chicks. And FHM has a thing for putting famous, real world women in their magazine. Don’t know what I mean? Realistic women, not the blond bombshells or the Hollywood starlets. Don’t get me wrong, they too are very attractive women, they just have this nearly solid aura of inapproachability. Kari’s not the first I’ve seen either, for an example, see my Rachel Ray post from a few months ago.

Well, staying with the geeky TV personality, FHM went to Mythbusters, and got ahold of Kari. (Lucky punks.) At any rate, her spread wasn’t quite so nutty, but not quite as revealing (unfortunately.) Without further ado, the pics: (The full images are prolly NSFD, and possibly NSFW, depending on where that is.)

Personally, I could have done without the heels. Or the labcoat, though it’s kinda sexy in a nerd way, and prolly does the nurse thing for those that are into it. It woulda been nice if the experiments were a little more complex than 5th grade science.

Oh, and I realize it’s a push up bra, too. I don’t see why its necessary, considering she’s pretty hot without the boost, or the labcoat.

Ah, one more geek getting sexy. Gotta love the trend.

The End of an Era

I came across a picture today of a somewhat historical event:

The Last Ever

Sure, it’s just an F-14D Tomcat taking off from an Air Craft Carrier. It’s not a bad picture, but certainly not the best picture of a Tomcat ever taken. It’s just a shot of something that has happened many thousands, possibly millions of times in the nearly 35 years the plane has been in service to the Navy, right?

Wrong. What makes this a big deal? Mostly the fact that it’s a picture of the last time it’s going to happen. The last of the Tomcat Squadrons was deactivated recently, as the F-14 gets retired officially next month. It’s being replaced by the new revision of the F/A-18, the Super Hornet. Also, with the joint strike fighter coming down the pike at some point, the Tomcat looked more and more like a dinosaur. While it’s not the sleekest of jets, at least by modern stealth standards, it was incredibly versatile, and has been a part of just about every major operation the US military has undertaken since Vietnam. (The Tomcat came in to being as a replacement for the F-4E Phantom II after Vietnam.)

You can see the entire history over at the wikipedia if you want. It’s an interesting read about one of the most important jets of the modern age.

It’s baaaaack

Remember that hottie tournament bracket from last year? It’s been updated for this year. You can check it out at: http://www.muellertourney.com/tournament.asp

I posted my winners down there in the comments.

This year was much harder than the previous year, mostly becuase Scarlett and Natalie met up very early in the tournament, and not in the final four like they did last year.

Of course, the biggest complaint I have is the rankings done. I’ve got half a mind to make my own and rearrange it.

A few clerical bits

As you may have noticed, there’s a bunch of new comics listed over there. I keep adding more as I find ones I like, and there’s a whole lot of talented and funny ones out there. See, I kinda use it as a rundown list so I don’t have to remember all of those addresses.

Also, I corrected a few blog links - Liz got her own domain name, so I updated the link to her blog. It’s a pretty cool one - liz-liz-bo.biz. But then, how can you not like a pun made with a TLD?

Liz also got me to set her up a forum  for her and her delinquent friends. I guess she just needed a message board that was anything goes - I guess we all need a place to be irreverent. Of course, considering its taking off like wildfire, I guess the need was there. There’s a link to it over there, called "Your Next Day Off". If you too need a place to vent, or throw around vulgarities, join on up. The more the merrier.

Nighthawk is definitely going to hit 30k this week. I think it’s going to happen tomorrow. Guess I better make an appointment for its checkup.

I finally caught one of Woody Allen’s latest, Match Point. It’s a quiet flick, with decidedly fewer explosions than most of the movies i’ve seen recently. While it had funny moments, it was also pretty dark. Ah, the crazy things people will do for love and to protect their families. Oh, and Scarlett Johanssen was in it, which is always a plus. Apparently her next movie (also by Allen) is a whodunit with a serial killer. Things must be so bright and shiny in Woody’s world. In a way, it was kind of like Closer, but not as fucked up. The only real downside was the amount of clothing on Scarlett in the sex scenes. Oddly enough, that was Closer’s problem too, just with Natalie Portman. And she was a stripper in that movie. Sheesh.
