A weekend of 1 year olds, and 3 year olds.

While Saturday was insanely fun, it was also insanely long. Due to a goof up sleep wise, I got up much earlier than I had intended. No big deal, I just played some HL2 to gear up for the Episode 1 Release in June (It’s about time.) Once the sun came up, took care of a few other things, including finally running my car through a car wash. It rather needed it. Of course, being spring, I had a dead bug on the windshield minutes after leaving the place. I’m debating getting the "bug-flector" for my car, but I’ll have to do some homework first. At least it got out all the dog hair that Sunny placed in it earlier this week when she went to the vet (more on that later.)

After the car was spic and span, we crossed state lines to a birthday party for 1 year old twins. Fun times, especially when 1 year olds try to eat cake. in case you’re wondering, I bought them an alphabet block set, and a bin of the uber-huge baby legos. Every kid should have legos, no matter what age they are.

On to Baytyd. Yes, I typed that correctly, though spell check is gonna hate it. It’s a house right on the Chesapeake owned by friends of the family. This year it was host to the 19th annual Kentucky Derby Party. That’s right a party tradition that’s been going on nearly 20 years.  It’s always fun, and that’s a great location for it. There’s nothing quite like sitting out on the deck, eyes closed, listening to just the water and the wind. It’s the best way to Zen. I didn’t pick the right horse to win, so I didn’t get the 3 bucks back on my 1 dollar bet. Who knew a horse from Delaware Park would pull it off, again. Not that I knew that going in, I used the same system I use every year - just pick by whichever name entertains me most. So my money was on Brother Derek. Which may not seem all that entertaining, but a few of friends understand. A close second was Sinister Minister, and then Steppenwolfer. At least I picked third place right.

On the way back to Dover, Nighthawk breached 22000 miles. I was conked out in the passenger seat, which is kind of comfy in my car, though that side of the front is  a tad narrower than the drivers side. I’m not sure i actually slept, cause I seemed to phase in and out. I don’t sleep well in cars. When I got home, I passed out of a good long time.

Oh yeah, Sunny. It was a "where do we stand?" kind of vet trip. The Arthritis that has plagued her hips for a couple of years is moving forward, and affecting her elbows and shoulders. So she’s not moving around so well. Not a whole lot that can be done, just keep her comfy. She’ll let us know when its time. They always do.

I think I’m gonna have to replace the keyboard. It’s got some key actions that are just not right. Also, the mouse is acting a little funky, double clicking on single clicks and the like. I didn’t think it got hit by the same Mountain Dew wave, but I could be wrong. Maybe i’ll replace it, and then hold on to it for later on the Lego Box. (yes, that’s an on going project, just a tad stalled.)

Yup, I was right. Spell Check choked on Baytyd.

So it survived after all, and other random bits

As i’m sure you’ve all been dying with suspense, my keyboard did survive the Mountain Dew Incident. I put it back together this morning, and it all works pretty well. With one or two minor exceptions: I have to hit the end key kinda hard, and the dishwasher warped the top cover a bit, so its naked. It looks odd, but works. I’m gonna try it for a day and see if its comfortable enough to type on. If not, I’ll order a new one, and this one can become spare.

Saw Scary Movie 4 over the weekend. Funny flick, to be sure, and its great to see a spoof of such huge crappy blockbusters. *cough*waroftheworlds*cough*

Nighthawk is well over 21000 miles, and there’s no end in the increase in sight. Of course, there’s no end in sight for rising gas prices. Maybe the CEO of Exxon-Mobil will stop eating babies long enough to realize that his world is about to become a shitstorm.

Also the fact that the first follow-up to Half-Life 2 is being released on June 1st completely slipped under my radar. All I know is that I’ll be playing it on June 1st. Also, apparently Earth 2160 came out, and I missed that too. I don’t know how I keep doing that. I guess I’ve been too caught up in Civ4 lately. So much so that I haven’t played as much Empires at War as I would have wanted. Hopefully someday i’ll have a method to control time, and get everything done that I want.

Also, starting watching one of the mid-season replacements on NBC, Teachers. I really only did it because Sarah Alexander from Coupling (the good British version, not the the trite American knock-off) is on it. It’s pretty funny, but I don’t know how much staying power it has.
