Wait, where did the year go?

Man, time flies, don’t it? Seems like it just speeds up the more that goes by.

Anyway, tonight’s the annual get drunk and kill each other LAN party. Luckily, not a whole lot of prep or shopping needed for this one, I’m just providing the location. You’re welcome to stop by, but it’s gonna reek of booze and geekdom.

Anyway, I hope that whatever you plans are you have fun and stay safe. Have a good one!

Just to wet the whistle

So the Star Trek get-up has caused a stir at work. So much so that they’re trying to buy me off to wear it there. At least that was the original plan. I think they’re now working on a plan to raise money for charity and have me wear it to a company meeting. (You can see Arthur’s blog for all the info.)

Anyway, I thought I’d get everyone geared up by posting a few pics. Made much easier by the Hand me up camera I now have.

The Obligatory Christmas Post Mortem

I like the looks of surprise that people get at Christmas. Granted, there were some knowns. My sister knew about the camera. The look of surprise was when she opened up the 1 GB memory stick for it. My dad’s jaw dropped at the train set. My mom says she knew it was a computer, but I just think she doesn’t want to admit we finally got her.

Yes, I was 2 for 2. I got the Complete Calvin and Hobbes - all 11 years in 3 books and 22 pounds. I also got the rear cargo mat for Nighthawk, which will help protect it from the crazy heavy stuff I put in there. I got a book and a CD that look interesting, MASH season 8, and some other odds and ends. I also got my sister’s old camera Hand Me Up, all wrapped up. (She was a little presumptive.)

The biggest surprise of my night was undoubtedly the OTHER box from Liz and James. I now know where she found it, but I now have a Star Trek Next Generation Engineering (Gold) Shirt. It came with the pips and the communicator as well. That means that next Halloween, I can go as this guy:

(with sincerest apologies to Kevyn James)

Anyway, I’m sure I’ll recall more stuff later, but that’s all for now. I hope everyone else had as good a one as I did!

Damn them to hell

So the morons at the Dover theater decided to pull Aeon Flux, and not tell Fandango. Punks. So we didn’t see that yesterday. Instead, we saw the only other thing that looked interesting in the time slot - Just Friends. Holy Crap. What a piece of dren. It had some funny moments, but no one wants to watch a guy try to grow a pair for 2 hours. That, and none of the rationalization or motivation made any sense at all.

Anyway, nearly time for Christmas (it’s a day early here) so I get to open the stuff I know I got. Could be some interesting surprises though.

It’s amazing how busy one can get

Sorry for the long quiet, but things have been busy. I’ve worked up a few rants over the past 2 weeks, and I’ll get them here at some point, I promise. In the meantime, I hope everyone has a good and safe holiday, and comes back soon for the upcoming rants about Christmas, Calvin Stickers, Girls, Commuting, Progress, and a few other things.

A few short quips:

  • Without even opening a single gift, I am 2 for 2 on my list of stuff I wanted. Everything else is bonus at this point.
  • Odyssey Judges letters are working better than I’d hoped, and responses have so far been good. Next week I e-mail the people I haven’t heard from. Should help bolster the numbers a bit.
  • I completely forgot about it last week, but Nighthawk cleared 10k miles last Monday. It goes in for is first checkup today.

Beyond that, I’m just looking forward to a few fun surprises for people this weekend. There’s prolly a few in store for me as well, but then I don’t know what they are.
Oh, and if things go as planned, this:

is in my future this weekend. (what a way to throw up eye candy.)
