Aging still sucks
So my mother made an unexpected vet appointment for Mousse this morning. Apparently he woke up lame, and just not being himself. Once I got home, I saw for myself, and Mousse was definitely not Mousse like - not walking properly, not really wanting to lie down, and whimpering a whole lot. Turns out his aging hips are doing just that - and he somehow aggravated them last night, and they were hurting like all get out. So he’s on pain drugs and vitamins. And a diet. Not too bad, but it’s not going to get much better from here on out. Hip dysplasia doesn’t just fix itself over night, so it’s the top of the downward spiral.
It’s been a long time since I was in the Vets office. Actually, it was right around the holidays 4 years ago. Wait, redoing the math in my head, it’s five years. Holy Cow, has it really been that long? Has it been 5 years since Maggie died? Of course, the time I was at the vet before that was the September before, when we lost Murphy. It wasn’t an easy drive to make yesterday, going to a place that I remember with such sorrow. At least coming out with Pup in tow was a nice change of pace.
Now that I know I have a teary audience member or two, time for other news:
No matter what you may hear, do not mix the flavors of banana and pumpkin. I just saw my mom throw out a pristine dessert for taste issues.Nobody who tasted it liked it. Personally, I just wonder why you’d want to corrupt banana with pumpkin. That’s right, I won’t touch the traditional Thanksgiving dessert. Apparently there is cherry pie in store for me, so I’ll be OK.
Oddly enough, I finished a lot of my Christmas shopping before Thanksgiving. It’s truly kind of weird. I even willfully walked into a store yesterday to investigate an idea. Not to purchase something I’d already thought of, but just look into it. I have no idea what’s coming over me.
Oh, and did you see what Ariel Sharon did over in Israel? Can you imagine the chaos here if John McCain did the same thing? It’d be farking amazing.
Lastly, the NWS had originally said it was going to snow here today, but I don’t see much chance of that happening. But now that I have 4 wheel drive and a really heavy car to beat up the snow in, I say bring it on.
