Driving must just find me
I took off most of this week. I had a few days at the end of the year, and decided I’d strategically place them to make my life easier. Somehow, they ended up being around Odyssey things. The crazy thing is that even though I have most of the week off, yesterday is the only day this week I won’t have an hour long drive somewhere. Two nights ago was Georgetown, tonight is Bear. Training can be so much fun. For those of you keeping score, that is 5 Odyssey things in one Saturday-Saturday period. It’s our busiest week of the year.
Speaking of driving, the Element rolled over 14k this week. The miles keep adding up.
As I’m sure some of you are wondering, yes, I heard a bit of the State of the Union speech Tuesday night, about the last 10 minutes on the way back from Georgetown. I only got uber ticked enough to turn off the radio once. It may surprise some of you that I wanted to do the same thing to the Governor of VA during his response. It’s pretty clear he’s being groomed for more, because Democrats are tired of losing for seeming like they hate religion. So they put up a rare democratic thumper. What bullshit. I don’t care what religion you are, what gods you may pray to, or how you think the universe came into being. None of that should have any bearing on politics. Both Shrub and Keene used the terms ‘Endowed by our Creator’ as examples of reasons we should do things. We should do them because we care about our fellow citizens, and the rest of the world. Erk. There’s a rant building here I don’t have time for. Maybe in a week or two when life calms down I’ll write another dissertation in support of my Countdown.
For now, I have 200 people to assign to problems the day of the tournament. (In a few weeks, I may write a dissertation on why I do what I do for Odyssey, but thats longer than any ‘Thumpers should die’ rant.)
